V67G (U87 mod)

We have extended the promotion for the V67G -> U87 conversion.

At this point it will at most be about 2 more weeks!

Please be diligent in placing your order as the promotion will definitely end in the near future.

A note to our customers outside the USA: If you would like the USA prices but are not currently here, we can buy a mic or a pair of mics for you as long as you pay for them via paypal!

This would save you a considerable amount of money on shipping, plus a lower cost on the microphone since it originates here as a retail item.

Please feel to free to email us at:

JJ Audio Mics V67 -> U87 Mod (Super Discount!)

V67G -> U87 Mod

A special deal for you!

The first 5 people who place an order for the JJ Audio Mics V67G->U87 modification will be able to purchase it for 200 dollars!

All you need to do is secure the mod with a paypal payment and ship the mic to our shop in Glenwood, Maryland.

Normally this mod is 300 dollars but we have a special offer at this time for 5 people only!

Here is audio examples of the modification:

U87

U87 Modded MXL V67

Here is what is done to your mic!

  • Your MXL V67 will be modified with a new Neumann type high gain Fet Transitor (U87) (re-biased)
  • The circuit will be converted to a U87 circuit
  • the electrolytic capicitors replaced with Vishay Electrolytic capacitors.
  • The capsule to fet capacitor will be replaced with a 460pf Styroflex capacitor.
  • The all important transformer capacitor will be replaced with a high grade 1UF Axon film capacitor.
  • The grill will be modded with a more open grill.
  • The result is improved frequency response and increased overall clarity of the microphone. The midrange is less muddy and the tone is greatly improved.

The microphone sounds much better than the stock mic. These mods blow away the current microphones comming out of China.

The mod takes 4 days. One day to mod and three to burn in and test.

JJ Audio Mics 11 Days of Christmas Sale!!

IF you pre-order a qualifying mic from the fine Catalog of JJ Audio Mics with a 50% deposit by December 25th @ midnight, you will receive an instant 10% discount off your finished mic.

Please provide us with an email, mic model desired and shipping address.

We accept Paypal.

The list of mics that qualify for this promotion are:

Akita $950 - $95 = $855! includes standard upgraded grille and headbasket to reduce reflections

Chihuahua Tiajuana $650 - $65 = $585! includes standard upgraded grille and headbasket to reduce reflections*

Chihuahua Durango
$650 - $65 = $585! includes standard upgraded grille and headbasket to reduce reflections*

Doberman Eastlake $750 - $75 = $675! includes upgraded grille and headbasket to reduce reflections

Doberman Westlake $750 - $75 = $675! includes upgraded grille and headbasket to reduce reflections

Dutch $850 - $85 = $765! includes the standard upgraded grille and headbasket to reduce reflections.*

All mics are also given a customer selected hammered paint finish. Metal flake is $25 extra.

*Premium grille and headbasket mod for the Chihuahua and Dutch, add $150, but see the note below!!

NOTE***: Regarding the "M50" style grille on the pictured Chihuahua mic with the hammered teal finish, that is an example of a full blown premium upgrade. This is normally $150 extra because it is a completely brand new grille and headbasket, which is hand fabricated by Jim Jacobsen in his workshop. The standard upgraded grille (which utilizes the existing headbasket) is still a superior improvement in sonics, reducing reflections and chance for interference from electronic sources in your recording environment. However, the premium headbasket for the Chihuahua completely alters the mic's frequency response and sensitivity, even further putting it into a higher echelon of quality and euphonics.

HOWEVER, if you order the "M50," style grille and/or our other house upgrades, for the Chihuahua under this promotion, it will qualify for the 10 percent discount! So if you order the Chihuahua Tiajuana for example for $650 + $150 for the premium grille mod, along with metal flake paint ($25) that will bring you to $825 minus our 10% holiday discount, so your grand total will be $742.50!

As well the premium grille and extended headbasket mod for the Dutch qualifies for the 10% discount promotion.

(LAST MINUTE UPDATE!) The metal flake option qualifies for the discount on all of the listed mics!

Each mic ships with a rebuilt 9 pattern power supply, IEC cable and good quality 7 pin tube power supply cable.

Please submit your orders to: langston.jjaudiomics@gmail.com

Feel free to listen to demos of these mics via THIS public Mediafire Folder!

Thanks for your continued interest and Happy Holidays from JJ Audio Mics!!

JJ Audio Mics - Minis

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." Mark Twain

One of the constant "push and pull," realities of studio equipment is sound vs size. The best sounding mic in a recording studio is usually the biggest mic too! However, we at JJ Audio Mics have set out to change that.

It is my pleasure to introduce to you the JJ Audio Mics - "Mini" Series.

These mics all contain sub miniature tubes, which are notorious for having a very unique straight forward sound. Because of their size, sub miniature tubes can fit into smaller microphones and still leave room for superb transformer and circuit coupling!

Here are the mini mics!

JJ Audio Mics Chihuahua $650 each or $1200/matched pair

Tiajuana Edition
  • JJ67 capsule
  • Small platform body
  • 5703 Sub Miniature Tube
  • Custom Circuit on hand made pcb
  • JJ Audio transformer (4:1)
  • 9 pattern PSU

Durango Edition
  • JJ12 capsule
  • Small platform body
  • 5703 Sub Miniature Tube
  • Custom Circuit on hand made pcb
  • JJ Audio transformer (4:1)
  • 9 pattern PSU

JJ Audio Mics Doberman $750 each or $1400/matched pair

Eastlake Edition

  • JJ67 capsule
  • Small platform body
  • 5703 Sub Miniature Tube
  • Custom Circuit on hand made pcb
  • JJ Audio transformer
  • 9 pattern PSU

Westlake Edition
  • JJ12 capsule
  • Small platform body
  • 5703 Sub Miniature Tube
  • Custom Circuit on hand made pcb
  • JJ Audio transformer
  • 9 pattern PSU

Attached are 2 sound files of the mics thus far, as well as available pictures. The picture of the Doberman body is only to show the paint job, there is no capsule installed in the picture.

Some information about the sound files, the Doberman Eastlake and the Chihuahua Tiajuana are recorded simultaneously. More files will soon come along with more information! You may have noted that in another thread there was a soundfile of the Chihuahua Durango prototype, we have since made that circuit/build much quieter with some changes to the grill material and will make a better optimized recording to showcase its sonics.
